5 Ways to Improve Your Wardrobe Space

Wardrobes are all about having a devoted space for your key clothing and accessories – shirts, suit combos, shoes, jewellery, ties, and more. But if you find that your wardrobe is getting way too crowded, it might be time to take some fresh steps in optimising that space.

There are plenty of ways to do so, and in this blog we’ll cover five key solutions for improving your wardrobe space.

Double Hanging

Double hanging wardrobe storage setups are ideal for maximising space. Anyone who has a hefty supply of clothes that need to be hung to stay in their best condition will benefit from a double hanging setup. These include hanging t-shirts, suits (jackets, shirts, pants, etc.) and any other clothing where the materials get noticeable crease marks from being folded and placed in drawers.

The setup itself is straightforward: instead of having one hanging rail for clothes to be hung from, double hanging wardrobes have two hanging rails – one typically placed at the top of the wardrobe and one placed around halfway down.

With the right design, a wardrobe can account for double hanging functionality and still keep other key components such as drawers and space for shoe storage.

Pull-Out Pant Rack

Pants can take up a lot more space than we tend to realise, and folding them up and shoving them inside a drawer isn’t always the best option. Dress pants, such as those you may wear to work or more formal events, tend to benefit from being properly hung to avoid unwanted creases.

With pull-out pant racks, you can save additional space in your wardrobe while also better storing your belongings in a way that could help give them a longer life.

Shoe Storage

Shoe storage comes in several forms for a wardrobe, depending on whether the storage is natively built into the wardrobe or by adding more shore storage to an existing wardrobe.

At Flexi Robes, we account for shoe storage in our wardrobe designs and customise these designs to suit everyone’s individual needs. Shoe storage can be built into traditional wardrobes or walk-in wardrobes, where there is usually a greater amount of space for larger shoe racks or pullout drawers to be utilised.

When it comes to shoes, if you have a big collection, it’s hard to deny that they occupy a lot of space compared to most other clothing items. That’s the benefit of a custom-built wardrobe where you can set the dimensions for how many shelves you’ll need to best cover your collection.

Jewellery Drawer

Enhancing your wardrobe with the addition of jewellery drawers maximises your storage while allowing you to showcase your prized collection.

Our wardrobe jewellery drawers are a perfect place to put your jewellery, as well as ties, glasses, and other small accessories. We include felt drawer inserts to ensure your belongings don’t get scratched or scuffed. With our glass top shelves, you can also protect your jewellery while being able to view all your pieces at a quick glance as needed.

Having a place for your jewellery that’s not just a locked box on a counter or table also provides better security, especially if you have high-value pieces. You can add yet another layer of security by having lockable jewellery drawers installed.

You can check out some of the jewellery drawers we’ve custom-built in the past.

Tie Rack

Tie racks are another simple wardrobe storage solution that can free up much-needed space. They can be used to store ties, scarves, belts and hanging bags, providing an optimised spot to place various personal belongings.

Such racks can be built into a wardrobe design or purchased much like a typical hanger with multiple hooks or arms from which individual ties can be hung.

The benefit of having tie racks custom-built is that they can be designed to save even more space than a standalone hanger-based tie rack.

So, instead of taking up real estate that could otherwise be used for hanging clothes, custom-built tie racks can be installed on the inner wall of wardrobes, leaving far more room for other clothing and items.

If you need some new wardrobe space solutions, Flexi Robes can help. Whether you have a walk-in wardrobe or a traditional built-in wardrobe, we offer a range of extra storage options that give you more space for your clothes, jewellery, shoes, ties, and other accessories.
